Who's doing the Pactolus this year?

In 2007 SYC boats were a bit thin on the Pactolus ground in Fécamp. From memory there was Moonlight Saunter, Barda, Crazy Daisy and, er um that was it... There may have been a French entry as well, but this was hardly an outstanding year.

So who's coming to play in 2008? Barda will be going again and we're going to try and run short handed with just me, Jason and young Rob.

Will we have any competition?

Steve,
We do have a list on the board but I do know that several are not intending to go.We will,as ever, but will be very lightly crewed.Nothing has been organised with SRF and we will have to watch the situation regarding French fishermen and their ongoing dispute with fuel prices.
Its a great shame as 20 plus years ago a fleet of 20 plus, including French, dined at SYC raced and then dined at SRF.Remember also they had no GPS or DECCA just Radio Beacon detectors which gave you a "bearing" of sorts and a cocked hat of many square nautical miles-all tidal vectors, paper charts, built in land fall errors and chewed pencils.Very much smaller yachts ect ect.Perhaps the number who now enter for away events such as Round the Island and Cowes have something to do with it.As a Section we can only organise and encourage but I do share your concerns regarding lack of support for the cross channel events.
In Sailing,David.ps sorry about the hat but our forum wont print the proper word !!

Good sailing to all doing Pactolus

The plucky Frenchman last year was called "Cœur D'Artichaut".  Does anybody know whether he has got his declaration in yet?

We have just returrned from Fécamp and can report it is as congenial as ever. La Grillade will have re-opened in time for Pactolus, so enjoy also!  If you spot a crewing opportunity, go for it!

Société des Régattes de Fécamp does not seem to be thriving as a social centre.  Other perspectives welcomed.
