Folks the Royal Escape Race documentation will be making an appearance on the website shortly and I'll also be 'tweeting' regular updates as well, so if you want the inside track you can find the race here...

I can hear the scratching of quill on parchment as I type...

I've updated the popular 'Duffers Guide to the Royal Escape' from last years brochure and loaded the text onto the website... Might be helpful if you are a first time escapee!

Crossing the channel always involves dodging commercial shipping and this AIS viewer can be pointed at the Eastern Channel to show what's going where...

To save you time hunting them down, I have placed a downloadable copy of the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Extract for Race Category 3 Monohulls with Life Raft (January 2008 - December 2009) on the main SYC website;

I'm dropping in to talk with the Admiral on Saturday. Following years of wholehearted support for the race, Alain Prevot feels that the time has come to take a step back from the race and Tony and Adele Boysons are very kindly taking over, providing our main retention trophies this year. Great news indeed.

Looks like we've got at least two French entries coming over to play, one of which will be carrying the SRF President, Michael Menendez. He's a great sailor (see amazing photo of him being caught in the surf off Fécamp in the SRF club house), but his English is every bit as awful as my French, so I'll be needing everybody to help out, even if it's just with a smile and handshake.

HI Steve, dumb question #2.....are the class flags going to be provided as part of the race pack at the briefing along with the boat numbers, or do we need to source those ourselves? thanks!

Jan you need to provide your own class flag... Should be available at all good chandlers and I am pretty sure that GP Barnes at Southwick have them.

And by non-participants also!  Enjoyed a brief description by early-returners in the bar this lunchtime.  2010?

2010 Robin? Crikey give us a chance!

Yes there will be another race in 2010 and yours truly and Steve T have indeed taken the Kings Shilling so to speak for at least another year.

The official 2009 debrief meeting will be happening next week and a plan will emerge after that.

And yes I am already aware of the tidal situation at the end of May 2010 - Shoreham Port have already been consulted and I'm sure we'll work something out.

If anybody else has any comments on 2009 then please let me know ASAP and I'll make sure we have a look at how we can make things even better.

 Bear with me, Steve! We have now missed two in a row and are determined not to go for the hat-trick.

Repeat congratulations on a great event from a reluctant spectator.
