Title: Why do we move it around every year?
Post by: Steve Vyse on May 11, 2012, 11:06:50 AM
Why not just base the Sussex Regatta at Brighton? Much as I hate to say it as an SYC member, Brighton is  the best venue by far when dealing with visiting boats and allows racing to carry on pretty much irrespective of tide.

What do we think?

Alot of sense in that. But isnt the point of it so that it can be shared with the 'combined clubs' and their hospitality can be extended to visiting yachtsmen, and facilities can be enjoyed after an invigorating passage to a new destination for a special weekend of camaraderie  etc etc. with eagerly awaited return favours from the next host the following year.

But the reality is perhaps a bit different.

There would need to be some additional aspect of 'combined clubs' to make it special otherwise it will just be another race at Brighton.

And of course there are the clubs' political aspects to overcome.

Anyone else ..... ?
