Folks,
the reserved 29 June date in the 2013 Fixture list has been confirmed as the Pactolus Race and here are the instructions taken from the Sailing Handbook;
OFFSHORE RACE - Classification: Offshore
Saturday 29 June - Start 09:00
The intention is to run the traditional Pactolus Race on this date subject to a minimum of six competitors declaring an interest. Those yachts intending to race must email their intent to sailingsection@susexyachtclub.org.uk no later than Friday 7 June 2013 with confirmation published on the SYC website Saturday 8 June 2013.
Course: 09:00 start. Lancing line, No1 P, Greenwich Light Vessel P and then to the finish at Fécamp, with boats taking their own finish time in BST with declaration handed to nominated boat in Fécamp on arrival. The finishing line extends 3 cables Westward bearing 105° true from the pier head of the Western harbour arm at Fécamp. Boats must finish by crossing the line heading in a Southerly direction and may make use of the waypoint 49° 45.928 N, 00° 21.564 E which falls close to a point midway along the finishing line.
Event is closed and for SYC yachts with a special invitation to SRF yachts to participate.
Although it states that 6 boats are required to have registered, in the light of the number of event cancellations and postponments this season I assume this condition will be waived.
So far the following boats have expressed an interest in racing;
BARDA - Steve Vyse
BOMBARDIER - Terry Kinch
TYKE - Brian Thomas
Can anybody else interested please post on this forum topic so we can keep SRF informed as to how many boats to expect. The weather looks great so come on out and use those boats!
Steve Vyse

I was looking at the history of this traditional event. Apparently it was named by Hermione Lady Colwyn after her yacht 'Pactolus'. Does anybody have any further information?
